Handicap Bathroom Remodel

This bathroom was thoughtfully remodeled to prioritize accessibility, safety, and comfort while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic.

Curbless Shower:

  • Removed tub for curnbless entry.

  • The walk-in shower features a zero-threshold (curbless) entry, allowing easy and safe access for wheelchair users or individuals with mobility challenges.

  • Dual handheld showerhead with an adjustable slide bar and wall-mounted controls allow seated or standing use.

  • Installed numerous sturdy grab bars for added safety and stability.

  • A built-in wall niche keeps toiletries easily reachable.

  • The floor is gently sloped to ensure proper drainage without the need for a lip or step.

  • Floor tile is non-slip for safety.

Accessible Vanity:

  • The vanity was custom-built with both accessibility and storage in mind. A knee clearance opening allows a wheelchair to roll underneath comfortably, promoting independence and ease of use.

  • The sink is shallow-mounted and the plumbing is recessed to prevent obstruction, while the counter height is adjusted for comfortable seated access.

  • All drawers and cabinet handles are fitted with easy-grip pulls for improved usability.

  • The design includes two tall side towers that provide ample storage for bulky items like towels, hair tools, and hygiene products—keeping them within reach but out of sight.

  • Below the counter, an abundance of drawers offers organized storage for daily essentials.

  • Ample task lighting above the vanity ensures excellent visibility, and multiple accessible electrical outlets were added at convenient heights for seated use—ideal for hairdryers, electric toothbrushes, and medical equipment.

Additional Features:

  • Fixtures, grab bars, and hardware are all installed at ADA-compliant heights and positions wherever possible.
